Peer tutors provided academic support to students across a variety of subjects, through one-on-one sessions. Assisted with understanding course content, improving study habits, and learning test skills for exams. Adapted tutoring strategies to meet diverse learning styles and needs. Maintained a positive, patient, and encouraging learning environment to promote student confidence and academic growth.

Peer Tutoring provides:

  • 1 to 1 online tutoring
  • Tutoring available for up to two courses per trimester
  • Up to ten one-hour tutoring sessions per course per trimester
  • Courses are offered based on Tutor’s availability.

Starting in the third week of the trimester, students may request an individual peer tutor by submitting Form #34, Tutor Service Request Form. In the form, they should include the specific course they need help with and a brief explanation of why they are seeking tutoring. 

After the request is reviewed, students will receive an email from their academic advisor confirming that a tutor has been assigned. The tutor will then coordinate directly with the student to schedule sessions at mutually convenient times.

This is a paid position with $20 an hour.

Eligibility Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be a student in good academic standing
  • Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must have earned a B+ or better in the course
  • A recommendation letter for the course you wish to be a tutor for (only required once per course, the instructor sent it directly to the academic advisor).
  • Must complete a Peer Tutor Application every trimester for the course you wish to be a tutor for, Form #33 Tutor Service Provider Application Form
  • Must read the Guidelines For Becoming A Peer Tutor

All approved tutors are required to sign the Tutor Policy Agreement.
